“Kyivstar acquires cloud provider GigaCloud

“Kyivstar, the largest mobile operator in Ukraine, is in the process of buying one of the leaders in the cloud services market, GigaCloud. Although an official agreement has not yet been signed, according to Dev.ua sources, GigaCloud employees have already been informed about the deal, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Details of the deal

According to preliminary information, Kyivstar is buying 80% of GigaCloud shares. This is the final step after filing an application with the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU).

GigaCloud CEO Nazariy Kurochko confirmed that the company was looking for an investor to implement its ambitious plans and found a strategic partner in Kyivstar.

“We have now filed an application with the AMCU. As Ukraine’s largest cloud provider, GigaCloud has been looking at many investment opportunities over the past 20 months to realize our most ambitious and innovative plans. In the end, we chose a partner with whom we share a strategic vision,” said Kurochko.

Experts estimate that the company’s value may reach $12-15 million.

About GigaCloud

GigaCloud’s financials (2024): revenue – UAH 410 million, net profit – UAH 45.6 million.

Infrastructure: the company has equipment in 5 data centers located in Kyiv, Lviv, and Warsaw.

This acquisition is part of Kyivstar’s business expansion strategy. Earlier, the company acquired a 97% stake in Uklon for $155.2 million and increased its stake in the medical platform Helsi from 69.99% to 97.99%.
