The Chinese People’s Liberation Army has built models of key government buildings in Taiwan, including the presidential palace, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense, at the Zhuzhihe training ground, the largest in China. This was reported by the Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to journalists, construction of the models began several years ago, and since 2020, their area has almost tripled. Exercises at the facility are aimed at practicing scenarios for a so-called “decapitation strike” on Taiwan.

According to the publication, the imitation of the Legislative Yuan building is connected by a 280-meter-long underground tunnel to a model of the presidential palace. The base also has structures that reproduce the buildings of the island’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense. Satellite images show that in 2022, the military set up checkpoints and conducted maneuvers simulating combat operations with the forces guarding the presidential palace, and in the summer of 2025, armored vehicles were again spotted at the training ground.

Taiwan’s Defense Minister Wellington Ku said that the authorities were aware of the situation and had taken security measures, without disclosing details. China, as President Xi Jinping noted on September 30, considers Taiwan its territory and declares its readiness to confront “separatist forces and external interference” in defense of national sovereignty.
