In 2024, Latvia will allocate six million euros to support infrastructure development in Ukraine. A similar amount of support is planned for 2025. This is reported by the Government portal, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

At a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Community Development of Ukraine and a Latvian delegation headed by Latvian Minister of Economy Vīķors Valainis, the parties discussed the development of supply chains, the creation of favourable financial and economic conditions, and the promotion of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Latvia is interested in strengthening economic ties, in particular, in replacing agricultural exports from Russia and developing export routes, the government said.

It is expected that a proposal for a combined logistics solution, including land and sea transport, will be developed for Ukrainian exporters and their Latvian partners.

The parties also discussed expanding cooperation in the field of railway transport and the use of the eChezha service.

In addition, representatives of the Latvian delegation assured of airBaltic’s readiness to start operating in Ukraine as soon as air traffic is restored.

It should be noted that the Government of Latvia has approved a new package of comprehensive assistance to Ukraine for 2024 worth almost EUR 10 million. The funds will be used to rebuild and support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that 5.3 million euros will be used to rebuild Ukraine, and another 4.3 million will be used to support the Ukrainian army through the European Peace Fund.
