28 September 04:17

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to negotiate a settlement to the war in Ukraine from the rostrum of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian media.

Lavrov reminded that Moscow has been open to a diplomatic solution to the conflict since the beginning of the war. And the key conditions for such negotiations are reliable guarantees of Russia’s security and protection of its vital interests. The diplomat emphasized that the rights of the Russian-speaking population in the territories controlled by Ukraine must be restored. Only then can security guarantees for Kyiv be discussed.

Lavrov noted that Russia does not yet see “readiness to negotiate in an honest manner” in Ukraine and the European Union.

On Tuesday, September 23, the 80th session of the UN General Assembly began in New York.
