‘Deputy prosecutor’ from Luhansk region receives maximum prison term

Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Shchastya District Prosecutor’s Office in Luhansk Oblast, the court found the Luhansk resident guilty of collaboration (Article 111-1, part 7 of the Criminal Code), Kommersant Ukrainsky
reports, citing the press service of the Luhansk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
“He was sentenced to the maximum penalty under the article – 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was also deprived of the right to hold positions in law enforcement agencies for 15 years.
Prosecutors proved in court that from spring 2022 to spring 2023, the man voluntarily held the position of “deputy prosecutor of Novoaydar district of the lPR”. He persuaded local residents to cooperate with the enemy. He demanded to provide information about officials who supported the Ukrainian authorities,” the statement said.
In addition, the convict, according to law enforcement officers, “systematically participated in events in support of the Russian Federation, where he allegedly ensured order against possible provocations”.
The verdict was passed in absentia. The convict will serve his sentence from the moment of his arrest. Therefore, the man is currently wanted.
The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
