Massive attack by Russia: high-rise buildings on fire in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia

On the night of Thursday, February 26, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine using drones and missiles. In Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, hits on residential high-rise buildings were recorded, fires broke out, and there were casualties. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Telegram channel of Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Kharkiv: direct hit on a high-rise building
Mayor Igor Terekhov reported at around 4:37 a.m. that a residential high-rise building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city had been directly hit. Information on the number of casualties is being clarified.
Also:
- a fire broke out in the Slobidska district after the strike;
- a private residential building was destroyed in the Saltivsky district — there is a fire and debris at the site.
The number of victims of the enemy shelling of the city is currently seven people.
Zaporizhzhia: dozens of strikes and a fire in a high-rise building
Several floors of a high-rise residential building are on fire in Zaporizhzhia. The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration previously reported that a person was trapped in one of the apartments.
As of 4:36 a.m., there have been 12 strikes on the city. The attack continued. Earlier, it was reported that two shopping centers were hit, one of which was Epicenter. A fire broke out at the site.
At around 5:00 a.m., new explosions were heard in the city amid warnings of the possible use of ballistic missiles.















Kryvyi Rih: UAV strike on a high-rise building
In Kryvyi Rih, a drone struck a high-rise building.
Initially, one person was reported injured, but later the number of victims rose to two.
Consequences of the attack and work of the services
State Emergency Service units, medics, and utility services are working at the sites of the strikes. Firefighting and debris removal are ongoing. Information on the number of victims and the extent of the damage is being clarified.
Local authorities are urging residents not to ignore air raid sirens and to remain in shelters during the threat of new strikes.
