Melania Trump sent a letter to Putin through her husband: what might be in it

During a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, US President Donald Trump handed him a personal letter from his wife Melania, a native of Slovenia. Reuters writes about this with reference to two White House officials, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Melania Trump raised the issue of the plight of children in Ukraine and Russia,” the publication says.

The officials did not disclose the contents of the letter. According to the agency, they limited themselves to stating that it mentions the alleged abduction of children as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Russia has repeatedly denied allegations that Moscow allegedly abducts minors from the territory of hostilities in Ukraine. on August 8, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that Ukrainian children were taken out of the war zone for safety reasons.

“The lives of many of them were saved because they were taken out of the combat zone. Ombudspersons for children’s rights are working to reunite them with their families,” she added.

Ukraine has called the abduction of tens of thousands of its children, who are taken to Russia or to the territory occupied by Russia without the consent of their families or guardians, a war crime that meets the definition of genocide in the UN treaty.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the first lady during a phone call with Trump on Saturday, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister reports.

“This is a real act of humanism,” Andriy Sybiga added to X.
