Kyiv Metro has changed its train schedule: what you need to know
20 January 07:56
The metro train schedule in Kyiv has been temporarily changed. The reason is the difficult situation with energy supply in the capital after massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) on its Telegram channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
How trains will run on different lines
Red line
Trains will run between the Akademmistechko and Arsenalna stations.
Trains will run approximately every 4.5–5 minutes.
After the air raid siren sounds, two additional trains will run between the left and right banks on the Livoberezhna–Arsenalna section.
Interval: approximately 20–25 minutes.
Trains will pass without stopping at the Hydropark and Dnipro stations.
Green line
During an air raid alarm, traffic is organized as follows:
- Syrets – Vydubychi: interval of about 7 minutes;
- Osokorky – Chervonyi Khutir: interval of approximately 10 minutes.
Blue line
Operates without changes, according to the standard schedule.
Why the restrictions were introduced
The Kyiv City State Administration explains that the changes are related to the electricity shortage and the need to stabilize the transport infrastructure during peak loads.
Where to follow updates
Up-to-date information on train movements:
- broadcast at metro stations;
- published on the official social media pages of the Kyiv Metro and the Kyiv City State Administration.
What passengers should consider
The city authorities advise planning trips with extra time, especially during air raid alerts and rush hour, and using alternative ground transportation routes whenever possible.
The changes are temporary and will remain in effect until the situation in the capital’s power system stabilizes.
