The Ministry of Justice has filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking to confiscate the assets of Viktor Medvedchuk and Oksana Marchenko in connection with the sanctions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ministry of Justice.

According to the Ministry of Justice, Marchenko and Medvedchuk are close to the leadership of the Russian Federation. In particular, they have personal friendly relations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The Ministry of Justice has declared for recovery the property owned by Medvedchuk and Marchenko directly and indirectly (through individuals and legal entities).

In particular, it is about:

  • 24 cars;
  • 2 aircraft (Gulfstream G650 aircraft, Bell-427 helicopter)
  • 1 pleasure boat (Azimut benetti spa, the name of the boat is “Romance 1”);
  • real estate (more than 20 objects);
  • corporate rights of 22 legal entities (regional power companies, TV channels, etc.);
  • property rights to 8 trade marks;
  • the spouses’ funds (equivalent to about UAH 1.9 million);
  • more than 1000 items of historical, cultural and material values (watches, jewellery, paintings, sets, interior items, a railway dining car with furniture).

It is worth noting that the arrested 92-metre yacht Royal Romance, which belonged to Medvedchuk, has been granted the status of a Ukrainian vessel, which means that the vessel is subject to the jurisdiction of Ukraine.

In April 2022, during the criminal proceedings, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine seized 264 paintings by Viktor Medvedchuk. By court order, they were transferred to the ARMA for sale.

on 17 April, ARMA announced that it planned to put the paintings from Medvedchuk’s collection up for sale. At the same time, at the initiative of the National Agency for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Ukraine, experts were engaged to conduct an art historical examination of the paintings.

Medvedchuk’s collection includes works by twentieth-century Transcarpathian artists, including Yosyp Bokshay, Havrylo Gluck and Adalbert Erdeli, a landscape by painter Volodymyr Orlovsky, a painting by Ivan Aivazovsky, as well as icons made of amber and beads. Some of the paintings are worth up to $50,000.

And in June, the ARMA announced that it was going to auction two BOMBARDIER ATVs and a TRAXTER buggy.

Medvedchuk’s arrest

On 12 April 2022, Medvedchuk himself was arrested as a result of a special SBU operation. He is a defendant in several criminal cases of high treason and economic crimes.

on 21 September, Viktor Medvedchuk was exchanged for Ukrainian soldiers held by Russia. As a result, 215 Ukrainian defenders were returned from captivity.
