The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has denied the information that is being widely spread on social media and Telegram channels about the alleged introduction of emergency power outages across the country. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The Ministry of Energy noted that fake messages are often accompanied by fake schedules for different cities and the use of the Ministry’s logo.
“If you see a message about a power outage with a call to subscribe to an unknown Telegram channel for details, this is a sign of deception and probably part of a Russian information and psychological operation,” the Energy Ministry emphasized.
How to recognize a fake:
- the message contains “sensational” statements about urgent or emergency shutdowns;
- the text calls to subscribe to an unknown Telegram channel or follow a suspicious link “for more information”;
- graphs or documents do not have official sources, but look “official”.
Such fakes are part of information and psychological operations aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country and undermining trust in official institutions. Their authors often aim to quickly increase the audience of their channels by exploiting the panic of citizens.
Where to check the truthful information:
- the official website of NPC Ukrenergo;
- pages of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine;
- official resources of your local regional power distribution company.
These are the places where the latest schedules and announcements about possible power supply restrictions are published.
