The SBU and the NABU, with the assistance of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the Armed Forces, exposed officials of the Armed Forces who “overpaid” UAH 27 million for the purchase of spare parts for combat aircraft. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Reportedly, the case concerns the exposure of two officials of the Logistics Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for corruption.
According to the case, in 2022-2023, the defendants signed contracts for the purchase of aircraft parts for Ukrainian combat aircraft, which caused losses to the Ukrainian budget of UAH 27.3 million.
According to the investigation, officials of the Ministry of Defense purchased spare parts at an unreasonably high cost from a controlled intermediary company.
To win the tender, the suspects involved several other affiliated commercial entities, including those with foreign registration.
In this way, the officials created the appearance of competition, under the guise of which they secured a contract with the “right” company.
According to the available data, the participants of the fraud brought the received “excess profit” into the shadow through a network of controlled companies.
Based on the collected evidence, both officials were served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 28, Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or position committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
The issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. The suspects face up to 6 years in prison.
