Munich Security Conference: Rubio hopes to meet with Zelensky at the event

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference, which will take place on February 13-15.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to CNN.
Rubio told reporters that he believes he will meet with Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference.
“I think he will be there, and there is a chance to see him. I think it’s on my schedule, although I can’t be 100% sure, but I am convinced that we will meet,” Rubio said.
Zelensky himself had previously stated that he would participate in the event if possible, depending on the security situation in Ukraine.
Munich Security Conference
As a reminder, the Munich Security Conference will be held in Germany on February 13-15, where European security and the role of America, as well as Russia’s war against Ukraine, will be discussed.
Almost 50 heads of state and government have confirmed their participation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to attend.
Key issues on the agenda include
- European security and defense;
- the future of transatlantic relations;
- the restoration of multilateral cooperation;
- competition between different models of world order;
- regional conflicts;
- the impact of new technologies on security.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Ukraine will receive special attention in various formats, and the delegation’s key priorities will be:
- peaceful settlement of the war;
- strengthening defense capabilities, in particular air defense;
- strengthening energy security;
- putting pressure on Russia through sanctions, political and diplomatic measures, and isolation.
In addition, for the first time at the Munich Conference, the Ukrainian House will be opened as a symbol of support and Ukraine’s new role in global security.
