The International Register of Damages Caused by Russia’s War Against Ukraine (RD4U) has announced the launch of two new categories of claims relating to cases of forced displacement or deportation of children and adults. This is reported on the official website of the Register, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
According to the website, the new categories are designated A2.8 and A2.9. They are intended to record individual violations, including the forced displacement of people within Ukraine and their deportation to other countries as a result of Russia’s illegal actions.
Category A2.8 is dedicated to the forcible transfer or deportation of children within the recognized international territory of Ukraine – “Forcible transfer or deportation of children”. Relatives or legal guardians may file applications on behalf of minors.
Category A2.9 covers similar cases involving adults who have been victims of forced displacement or deportation due to internationally wrongful acts of the Russian Federation – “Forced displacement or deportation of adults”.
Thus, the Registry continues to expand the possibilities of documenting crimes related to the Russian aggression so that victims can receive fair compensation in the future.
How to apply
Individuals who have suffered serious bodily harm, sexual violence, torture, deprivation of liberty or forced labor, as well as internally displaced persons as a result of the war, can submit applications through the web portal Diia, a secure government platform that provides digital access to public services.
All the necessary information, including application forms, submission rules, FAQs and practical instructions, is available on the official website of the Register of Damages for Ukraine in Ukrainian and English.
What is the Loss Register?
The International Register of Losses is the first component of the Global Compensation Mechanism, which was initiated by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in May 2022 together with international partners.
The mechanism consists of three elements: The Register of Losses, the Compensation Commission and the Fund.
Previously, Diia was already able to file claims for the death or disappearance of loved ones, health damage, and destroyed property. Now the list has been significantly expanded.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation will announce separately when the submission of applications for each of the new categories will become available.
