The International Olympic Committee has determined that the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2030 and 2034 will be organised in France and the United States. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the IOC.

According to the decision of the committee members during the 142nd session in Paris, the French Alps should host the XXVI Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2030.

Now the country’s prime minister has until October to guarantee that the Games will be held, and the French parliament has until March 2025 to ratify the decision.

The French Alps 2030 delegation was headed by French President Emmanuel Macron, who expressed France’s full commitment to hosting the Olympics.

“France pushes the boundaries of excellence every time it organises a sporting event. We believe in the future of our mountains and we must support their model for the future: innovative, ambitious, environmentally friendly and accessible to all. Today I reaffirm to you France’s full commitment to the organisation of these Games,” the President said.

The Winter Olympics will take place from 8 to 24 February 2030. It will be the fourth such Games to be hosted by France. In 1924, the Olympics were held in Chamonix, in 1968 – in Grenoble, and in 1992 – in Albertville.

These will be the first competitions to fully integrate the new principles of the Olympic Games, which, in particular, include increased inclusiveness and gender equality. The Games will also bring social and economic benefits to communities.

At the same time, the US city of Salt Lake City in Utah will host the XXVII Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2034, the IOC decided at its session.

The Winter Olympics in Utah will take place from 10 to 26 February 2034.

Utah’s largest city was already the capital of the 2002 Winter Games.

It should be noted that the official opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games is only due to take place on 26 July, but competitions in some sports have already started.
