The Ministry of Education and Science has increased the amount of grants for university entrants

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has increased the amount of grant support for applicants who will enter higher education institutions on a contract basis. This was announced by Deputy Minister Mykhailo Vynnytskyi in a commentary to journalists, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Ukrinform.

“We are continuing the grant program that allows us to partially cover the payment of the contract. This year, the amount of grants has been increased: the basic grant will be UAH 16,800, and the second-level grant will be UAH 28,000. Its size depends on the results of the NMT,” explained Vynnytskyi.

In 2024, 312 thousand applicants registered to take the National Multisubject Test.

What is known about grant support for entrants?

Grant support for entrants is a government initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to applicants who enter Ukrainian universities on a contract basis. It allows you to cover part of the cost of education at the expense of budgetary funds.

Basic information about the program:
Launched: in 2024.


Goal: to support talented applicants and make contract education more affordable.

Eligibility requirements: The grant is awarded based on the results of the National Multisubject Test (NMT).

Applicants must be enrolled in a contractual form of education.

Grant amounts in 2024:
uAH 16,800 – basic grant (awarded for a score of 150 points on the NMT).

uAH 28,000 – second-level grant (awarded for a score of 170 points).

Special coefficients are also applied to the basic amounts, depending on the chosen specialty (for example, for IT or engineering majors, a higher coefficient is applied).

Who administers the program: The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Funding: The money is paid directly to the university and is credited to pay for part of the student’s contract.
