The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine opened its diplomatic archives to the public

The universals of the Ukrainian Central Rada, Hetman’s Charters, Resolutions of the Directorate, international multilateral and bilateral treaties and agreements, and many other documents are presented on a special online portal “Diplomatic e-Archive”, which was opened the day before. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Access to the unique diplomatic archive was opened on the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga on the Day of the Diplomatic Service of Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the portal contains unique diplomatic documents that tell visitors about the history of the Ukrainian diplomatic service, the activities of Ukrainian diplomatic missions and consular offices, foreign missions accredited in the Ukrainian People’s Republic, the Ukrainian State, the Ukrainian SSR and independent Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga believes that the Diplomatic e-Archive digital resource is important for restoring the historical truth about the Ukrainian state-building tradition and the history of Ukrainian diplomacy.

On the online portal, you can read the First Universal of the Ukrainian Central Rada, the Decree of the Ukrainian National Rada of January 3, 1919, on the unification of the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic with the Ukrainian People’s Republic, published in the Bulletin of State Laws and Regulations of the Western Region of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, or, for example, view the photo “Hetman of All Ukraine Pavlo Skoropadsky with his entourage.”
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diplomatic e-Archive plays an important role in countering disinformation and historical manipulation. The initiative emphasizes Ukraine’s priority to support transparency and integrity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also prepared a documentary photo exhibition “Diplomacy. Institutional Memory”. Unique photos are presented at special stands on Mykhailivska Square and inside the Ministry.
The exhibition was organized by the MFA in cooperation with the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations and the State Archival Service.

The collection demonstrates the history of Ukrainian diplomacy from the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921 to the present day. the 20 thematic blocks of the exhibition reveal the key stages of development of the Ukrainian diplomatic and consular service. The exhibition on the history of Ukrainian diplomacy will be open to the public from December 22 to January 20 at St. Michael’s Square.
The projects were implemented with the support of UNDP in Ukraine and funding from the Government of Japan.
