An attempt was made to kidnap the former Minister of Energy of Ukraine in Cyprus

In Larnaca (Cyprus), three masked men tried to kidnap a 51-year-old man who served as Ukraine’s energy minister a decade ago.
This was reported by the Cyprus Mail and the Cyprus Times, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
the 51-year-old man told police that on the evening of November 20, when he was at home with a 36-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man, they noticed a suspicious van with three people inside. Together with the 72-year-old man, he went to check the car, after which three attackers wearing medical masks attacked them and tried to force them into the van. Both men managed to resist, and the attackers fled, leaving the car behind.
The police found that the license plates on the van were fake. Inside, they found a pistol with an empty magazine and other material evidence. Both victims suffered minor injuries.
The alleged victim of the attack is the former Minister of Energy of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn, now 51 years old. Ten years ago, he was the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine in the second government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk. According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, Demchyshyn is currently on the wanted list.
The Cypriot police are continuing to investigate the motives for the attack, as well as the possible involvement of others.
