Thunderstorms approach Kyiv and the region: forecasters warn of danger

A thunderstorm is expected in Kyiv on Tuesday, with gales of 15-20 m/s. As a result, the first level of danger has been declared – yellow. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ukrainian Weather Service and the Kyiv City State Administration.
Kyiv residents are warned of dangerous meteorological phenomena in the coming hours. The bad weather will remain over the capital region until the end of the day on 7 May.
“In the next 2-3 hours, a thunderstorm is expected in Kyiv, with squalls of 15-20 m/s (hazard level I, yellow),”
– the report says.
Forecasters also predict short-term rain, south-westerly winds with a shift to the north of 7-12 m/s, squalls of 15-20 m/s in some places, and an air temperature of 18-20°C.

The Kyiv City State Administration recommended that during 7 May:
- close all windows tightly, remove objects from unglazed balconies and loggias that could fall out;
- stay away from billboards, power lines, and trees;
- if necessary, take cover in the nearest room or natural shelter;
- avoid being near large trees and do not park vehicles near them.
If a tree falls or branches break due to strong winds, Kyiv residents are asked to call the emergency dispatch service of Kyivzelenbud: 044-272-40-18.
Also, if the fall of trees and branches threatens lives, you can contact the rescuers by calling: 101 or 044-430-37-13 (KARS phone). If people are injured, call 103 immediately.
