Military appropriated food worth UAH 5 million for the army in Kyiv region

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into an organised group of military personnel from a unit in Kyiv region and representatives of a food supplier. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
It has been established that during June-November 2023, the group members concealed and did not provide the soldiers with food supplied to the unit.
the food “saved” in this way was re-accounted for in the military unit’s accounting records on the basis of forged documents. The money was distributed among the group members.
As a result, the state suffered losses of UAH 5.4 million, and almost 1,000 servicemen did not regularly receive quality food during martial law.
After exposing the criminal scheme, conducting searches and detaining the defendants, the state and conditions of food in the military unit were re-checked. The soldiers noted a significant improvement in the quality of food: they were given a full ration of food in accordance with established standards and norms.
To ensure compensation for the damage caused to the state, the property and money of the defendants were seized. They were served with notices of suspicion of misappropriation of property, forgery, misappropriation of military property by prior conspiracy, under martial law and in a particularly large scale (Article 27(3), Article 28(3), Article 191(5), Article 358(3), Article 410(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the articles provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment.
