Smuggling channel exposed in Lviv region: goods worth over 14 million seized

In Lviv region, detectives of the Economic Security Bureau exposed a channel for smuggling goods across the border at the Krakivets-Korchova checkpoint. During the searches, goods worth more than UAH 14 million were seized. This was reported by the press service of the Territorial Department of the BES in Lviv region, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to the investigation, a group of people organised the illegal importation of various goods into Ukraine: children’s clothing and footwear, bed linen, chocolate, electric bicycles, etc. The goods were imported without declaring and making appropriate payments, as well as without documents on their origin.

“BES detectives conducted searches in warehouses in Lviv region and in trucks with trailers. Illegally imported goods worth more than UAH 14 million, as well as four vehicles used for transportation, were found and seized,” the statement said.

The investigation is currently identifying all those who may be involved in the scheme of illegal importation. The involvement of Lviv Customs officials is also being checked.

The pre-trial investigation on the grounds of a criminal offence under Part 2 of Art. 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being carried out by detectives of the BES Territorial Department in Lviv region.
