Explosion occurs at Germany’s largest chemical plant (video)

On Monday, 29 July, an explosion occurred at BASF, Germany’s largest chemical plant. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the a press releasepublished by the concern.

The explosion escalated into a fire, which was quickly contained and extinguished. Fourteen workers were slightly injured.

The city authorities and the fire service have issued a hazard warning as the fire could release harmful substances into the air. The fire service is asking people to avoid the affected areas, keep windows and doors closed, and switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems.

It should be noted that BASF Societas Europaea is a German chemical company headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Rhineland-Palatinate. BASF is the world’s largest chemical company and produces a wide range of products: plastics, paints, cosmetics, food additives, technical and construction chemicals, and agrochemical plant protection products.
