Nine people, including a child, died in Odesa and Odesa district due to heavy rainfall and flooding. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
On September 30, a red alert was declared in Odesa due to a large-scale downpour that caused flooding of streets, traffic jams, and disruptions in infrastructure.
Rescuers worked all night at the sites of flooding, evacuating people from cars trapped in water, pumping water out of buildings, and searching for missing people.
“Throughout the night, rescuers helped evacuate people from water traps, remove cars, pump out water from buildings, and search for a missing girl who was found at 7 a.m.,” the SES said in a statement.
In total, 362 people were rescued and 227 vehicles were evacuated.

Rescuers have been eliminating the consequences of the bad weather in Odesa and Odesa district for almost a day. A total of 255 rescuers and 68 vehicles are involved in the disaster response. The work is ongoing.
According to preliminary data, most of the deaths were caused by drowning due to a sharp rise in water levels after heavy rainfall. Rescuers continue to inspect the flooded areas.
The SES urges residents of the region to refrain from traveling, avoid flooded road sections and not to leave cars in lowlands where water can accumulate.
