Ukrainian rugby player Ihor Vlasiuk died in the war

On April 17, 2025, Ukrainian rugby player Ihor Vlasiuk was killed while performing a combat mission. This was reported on Facebook by the Lviv Rugby Federation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The price of our freedom is very high. The best give their lives, among them the player of the team RK Batyary Lviv – Ihor Vlasiuk,” the message says.

The Federation noted that Ihor Vlasiuk stood up to defend Ukraine from the beginning of the full-scale war.

The sergeant, a gun commander, was killed near the village of Shipuvate, Kupyansk district, Kharkiv region, while performing a combat mission.

“My sincere condolences to the parents, sister and all the family of the fallen Hero. May the Lord grant peace to his soul, and may the memory of Ihor live forever among us,” the Lviv Rugby Federation said in a statement.
