A missile or bomb fell out of a fighter jet during a training flight in Volyn, exploding in the village of Kopylia, Lutsk district. The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 11 and is being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation. This was reported by Avers TV channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
What happened
The incident occurred on September 11 in the afternoon in the village of Kopylia, Lutsk district. According to the TV channel’s sources, during a training flight, a missile or bomb fell out of a fighter jet and exploded near a residential building. The aircraft involved in the flight was flying low over the village and after the incident returned towards Belarus.
Eyewitnesses confirmed the explosion and said that the munition accidentally fell out of the Ukrainian plane.
Consequences for residents
The parents of the deputy head of the local KORD police special forces live in the destroyed house.
There were no people in the house at the time of the fall, so there were no casualties.
Investigation
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) opened a criminal investigation into the fall of the aircraft munition. An investigative team has arrived at the scene.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 2 of Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of flight rules or preparation for them.
State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Sofia Lepekh-Davydovych said that the investigation is ongoing and all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
