The main news of the forecast for April 5 is dry weather throughout Ukraine. While on Saturday, April 4, brief showers and thunderstorms in some areas are still expected in the eastern regions, as well as in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, precipitation is expected to subside by Sunday. Natalka Didenko specifically notes that the weather on Palm Sunday will be what Ukrainians usually expect closer to Easter: sunny, warm, and pleasantly spring-like.
On April 5, temperatures in most regions will range from 12 to 19 degrees. This means the day will be truly warm for early April, especially considering that forecasters are predicting a new cold snap in just a few days.
Although Sunday will be dry and warm, it won’t be entirely without weather-related surprises. According to Didenko, the northwesterly wind will pick up and become gusty. This means that the sensation of warmth may be somewhat weaker in some places, especially in open areas. This is important to keep in mind for those planning long walks, trips, or festive visits to outdoor churches.
What will the weather be like in Kyiv
In Kyiv, dry weather and temperatures up to 15 degrees are forecast for April 4, and on Palm Sunday, April 5, the capital will be sunny, with no precipitation and temperatures around 14 degrees. According to the weather service, clear weather is indeed expected in Kyiv on Saturday and Sunday, with daytime temperatures around 16–17 degrees on Saturday and 16 degrees on Sunday.
What’s in store after Palm Sunday
Despite the warm weekend, colder air will begin to move into Ukraine as early as April 7. According to preliminary forecasts, daytime temperatures next week may drop to 4–9 degrees, and in some places, even slightly below freezing is possible at night. In other words, the warm Palm Sunday looks like a brief, comfortable window before a new cold snap.
