External power supply restored at Zaporizhzhya NPP
30 December 11:14
As of December 29, external power supply was restored at Zaporizhzhya NPP after the completion of repairs to the power line. The damaged line was reconnected to the power grid. This was reported by Reuters, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to the agency, all work was carried out under the supervision of IAEA experts who are constantly on site.
Experts confirmed that during the restoration of power supply, the radiation background remained stable, and the facility operated in a safe mode.
While the main power line was being restored, Zaporizhzhia NPP was powered through a backup power line. This ensured uninterrupted power supply to the reactor cooling systems and maintained critical safety functions of the nuclear power plant.
Security arrangements near ZNPP
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Russia reached a local agreement to cease hostilities in the area of Zaporizhzhia NPP, which created conditions for repair work on the damaged energy infrastructure.
Ukraine’s position
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously emphasized that the issue of Zaporizhzhia NPP is one of Ukraine’s key “red lines” in peace negotiations with international partners, along with territorial integrity and security guarantees.
He has repeatedly emphasized that the safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant should remain a priority for the international community.

Situation at ZNPP
Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been under Russian occupation since March 2022. During this time, Russia has repeatedly tried to legalize its control over the facility in violation of international law.
The latest actions of Rostekhnadzor are viewed as another manifestation of nuclear blackmail, which increases threats to the security of the region and the entire world.
At the same time, as part of its peace initiatives, the United States is proposing a format for joint management of the Zaporizhzhia NPP with the participation of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. However, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that this approach is unfair.
