Salamakha, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, died in a traffic accident

On Sunday evening, January 25, in the village of Sokilnyky near Lviv, a traffic accident involving a quad bike and a shuttle bus occurred. The driver of the quad bike was Orest Salamakha, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party. Orest Salamakha died as a result of the accident.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a statement by Lviv City Council deputy Igor Zinkevich.

Initially, there was information that Orest Salamakha had been resuscitated and was being taken to the hospital. Zinkevych then reported that the deputy had died in the hospital at 8:00 p.m.

The information about his death was also confirmed by Oleksiy Goncharenko, a member of the European Solidarity faction.

“Orest Salamakha, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, died in a car accident in the Lviv region,” he wrote in a Telegram post.

The death of Salamakha was also reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Danylo Getmantsev.

“Another tragic death. Our colleague, MP, patriot, decent, reliable person Orest Salamakha. May he rest in peace. Eternal memory. Condolences to his loved ones,” Getmantsev wrote.

Orest Salamakha was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 from the 121st majority constituency in Drohobych. He was the head of the Subcommittee on Local Budgets and Budget Support for Regional Development of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget.

On March 25, Orest Salamash would have turned 35. He is survived by his wife and three children.
