The National Bank has restricted the activities of 5 credit unions

The National Bank of Ukraine has taken enforcement action against five credit unions for violating prudential standards. Some institutions are restricted from providing financial services until the end of 2025, while others have received written warnings with a requirement to eliminate the identified violations within a certain time frame. This was reported by the press service of the NBU, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs

Who was sanctioned

The NBU sanctions affected the following credit unions:

  • “Zlet”
  • “Yvan”
  • “Credo”
  • “Verkhovyna”
  • “Vinnychanka”.

Temporary restrictions

Zlet and Yvan credit unions are subject to restrictions until December 31, 2025. They are not allowed to:

  • enter into new loan agreements;
  • extend the validity of existing agreements;
  • make changes to them if the liabilities of an individual member or group exceed 10% of the union’s regulatory capital.

Kredo Credit Union was also restricted from operating until the end of 2025. It cannot issue or review loans if its liabilities to the union exceed 15% of its regulatory capital.

It is prohibited to:

  • entering into new contracts;
  • extending the term of existing ones;
  • any changes that increase the risk of exceeding the established limit.

Written warnings

The NBU applied a milder measure, a written warning, to Verkhovyna and Vinnychanka.

They were given a deadline to correct the violations:

  • “Verkhovyna has until October 1, 2025 to eliminate the deficiencies.
  • “Vinnychanka has until September 30, 2025.

The NBU emphasizes that monitoring compliance with financial standards is part of ensuring the stability of Ukraine’s credit and financial system.
