A Christmas dinner was held in Kyiv for families who have taken in a child. Almost 500 participants – foster parents, guardians and trustees from different regions of Ukraine – gathered around the 120-meter-long Christmas table.

The event was organized by the Kateryna Osadcha Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, UNICEF and the Coordination Center for the Development of Family Education and Child Care.

Its goal is to draw public attention to the importance of family for every child. For this event, 150 kilograms of kutia and 5,000 dumplings were prepared – the result of several days of work by forty chefs from Mafia and Razom restaurants.

100 Christmas trees were delivered to the territory of VDNKh, and 2 kilometers of festive lights were used to create a festive atmosphere.

In addition to the positive emotions, the Kateryna Osadcha Foundation prepared gifts for the children, who received more than 400 embroidered shirts. The general partner of the event, ACME, also donated Christmas gifts for families – 170 sets of care cosmetics. The festive concert, carols, gifts, and delicious dinner were a symbol of support and gratitude to the families who opened their homes to the children and gave them family warmth.

Most families came to the capital on purpose to attend the festive dinner. The main regions from which the guests came are Zakarpattia, Odesa, Khmelnytsky, Kyiv, Mykolaiv and other regions of our great country. The Foundation is systematically working to develop family-based forms of education not only in these regions, but throughout Ukraine.

The founder of the Foundation, Kateryna Osadcha, emphasized that the event was about simple but key values: love, acceptance and a sense of home. Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutin thanked the families for their care and emphasized the importance of common family traditions.

Munir Mammadzadeh, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine, emphasized that every child has the right to grow up in a family – today.

The evening culminated with the largest joint caroling with families and celebrity guests. MONATIK, KOLA, DZIDZIO, TVORCHI and other Ukrainian artists performed on stage.
