UA War Infographics has compiled a ranking of regional centres by the amount of money allocated from the budget for the Armed Forces of Ukraine last year, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
The rating was compiled based on the calculation of how much of the city’s budget was allocated and spent on defence.
It is worth noting that Kyiv allocates the largest amount of money to the Armed Forces (UAH 8.9 billion), as it has the largest city budget in Ukraine. However, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava are the leaders in spending on the Armed Forces relative to the size of their budgets.
Thus, Zhytomyr became the leader in spending, allocating 38% of its budget for defence in 2023. Khmelnytskyi allocated 37% of its budget, and Poltava – 14% of its budget.
Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernihiv allocate 10% of their budgets to support the Armed Forces.
The last places in this ranking are occupied by Kharkiv and Vinnytsia, which allocated only 2% of their city budgets to the Armed Forces.
