On the night of September 4, Poland’s airspace was violated twice by unidentified drones. The country’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident, but explained that the drones did not pose a threat, so they were not shot down.
This was reported by Reuters, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The commander of the Polish Armed Forces, General Maciej Klisz, said that Polish air defense forces had recorded two airspace violations. According to him, the situation was under control.
“These two violations were under the full control of the national forces and units involved in the state defense system,” he emphasized.
Poland’s Chief of the General Staff, General Wieslaw Kukula, clarified that the drones left the country without causing damage to civilian or military facilities.
The Ministry of Defense did not say where the drones were spotted crossing the border.
Earlier, in August, a similar incident was reported in eastern Poland: a drone crashed into a cornfield. According to the prosecutor who investigated the case, the drone could have entered Polish territory from Belarus.
This incident occurred against the backdrop of another large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine. On the night of September 4, the occupiers launched 112 kamikaze drones and imitators of various types.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported the destruction of 84 drones, but recorded the impact of 28 attack drones in 17 settlements, as well as the fall of debris in five locations. The most powerful explosions occurred in Odesa.
