The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is launching a pilot project that will allow volunteer formations of territorial communities to participate in the country’s air defense. In particular, it will allow them to shoot down Russian drones.
This was reported by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The air defense groups will be open to members of the DFTG, citizens who are not subject to mobilization, as well as trained specialists with UAV operator certificates. Training will be provided by the national resistance centers.
Volunteers will be able to detect, track, and engage enemy air targets. For this purpose, they will be allowed to use drones, light aircraft, personal weapons, as well as their own cars and equipment. If necessary, the Armed Forces Command will provide participants with equipment, weapons and ammunition.
Formally, the newly created groups will be subordinated to the Territorial Defense Forces, and operational control will be exercised by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
