An officer of the Zaporizhzhia military registration and enlistment office was suspected of unjustified seizure of vehicles worth UAH 11 million from a company. The cars were taken “for the needs of the military”, although these vehicles were not subject to mobilisation. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, an officer of the military registration and enlistment office was responsible for mobilising vehicles. In March 2022, he came with an armed escort to a car park that was actually outside the territorial jurisdiction of the military enlistment office. In the absence of the business owners, the defendant seized 5 cars that were not subject to mobilisation, totalling UAH 11 million.

“The official of the military enlistment office did not have the established limits for the seizure of vehicles and the relevant documents from the local authorities regulating the mobilisation of vehicles for these enterprises. The defendant managed to seize only those vehicles with the keys of the driver present at the car park. These are four trucks and a minibus with a total value of almost UAH 11 million,”

– said the State Bureau of Investigation.

The pre-trial investigation is now complete. The official is accused of abuse of power or authority by a military official under martial law (Article 426-1(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years.
