Germany is ready to buy Patriot air defense systems from the US for Ukraine

Germany is intensively considering the purchase of Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine from the United States.
This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper, citing sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“Germany is making intensive efforts to purchase Patriot from the United States for Ukraine <…> According to a person familiar with the situation, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who has vowed to be a staunch supporter of Kyiv, also spoke to Trump on the phone on Thursday as part of these efforts,” the report says.
on July 4, Merz spoke with US President Donald Trump and discussed the situation in Ukraine, in particular the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense system.
The American leader did not commit to any weapons transfers to Kyiv in his conversation with Merz.
In turn, German Cabinet spokesman Stefan Cornelius said that the chancellor had “pleaded very strongly for support for Ukraine in the air defense field” during telephone conversations in recent days.
