Norwegian gynecologist found guilty of raping 94 patients

A gynecologist from Norway has been found guilty of raping 94 patients and sentenced to 21 years in prison. This was reported by Hln.be, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to media reports, 55-year-old Arne Bie filmed the abuse of patients. The charges against the man were brought by 94 victims.
The women testified that during gynecological examinations, Arne Bøe touched them without medical grounds, penetrated them with his fingers or used foreign objects. According to Norwegian law, all these actions are classified as rape.
“All of these actions are considered rape under Norwegian law,” the publication says.
The medical worker was found guilty of 70 counts of rape and sexual assault between 2004 and 2022. The man is also accused of 82 counts of abuse of office.
The doctor was acquitted on nine counts of the indictment, which contained more than 160 counts.
He was sentenced to 21 years in prison and banned from practicing medicine for the rest of his life. In addition to the prison sentence, the convict was granted an indefinite ban on medical practice and ordered to pay financial compensation to his victims.
The sentence was in line with the prosecutor’s request. The defense of Arne Bai, who confessed to only twenty rapes, argued for a reduced sentence of 17 to 18 years in prison.
The doctor has not yet decided whether he will appeal his sentence.
