2 January 08:40
On January 1, 2026, a law came into force in Ukraine that significantly strengthens state support for families with children and introduces a new logic of assistance – from pregnancy to the start of school. The document was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on November 5, 2025, and was developed by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine together with MPs. It is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"
The law provides for a comprehensive update of the system of “children’s” payments and aims not only to provide financial support to parents, but also to create conditions for combining parenthood with work.
Maternity benefits
For uninsured pregnant women, prenatal support in the amount of UAH 7,000 per child was introduced.
For military personnel, police officers and other special categories, 100% of the average monthly salary is paid.
Duration of payments:
- 70 days before and 56 days after childbirth;
- 70 days after – in case of complicated childbirth or the birth of twins/triplets;
- 180 days for women affected by the Chernobyl accident.
The application can be submitted through the Pension Fund of Ukraine or using Diia.Sharing, without paper copies of documents.
Childbirth benefit: up to UAH 50 thousand
The one-time childbirth allowance has been increased to UAH 50,000. It can be received by one of the parents or a guardian with whom the child permanently resides.
The application is submitted to:
- to the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
- or through the eBaby service.
If the child was born abroad, legalized birth documents must be submitted. For children on full state support, the funds are credited to the deposit until they reach the age of majority.
Monthly childcare allowance for children under 1 year of age
Starting in 2026, a new monthly payment will be introduced:
- uAH 7,000 for all families;
- uAH 10,500 – for families raising a child with a disability (coefficient 1.5).
The allowance is granted starting the day after the end of maternity leave and is processed through the Pension Fund of Ukraine or Diia.Sharing.
“eNursery” program: support for working parents
There is a separate program called “eManger” for parents who go to work after their child reaches the age of 1:
- uAH 8,000 per month as a basic payment;
- uAH 12,000 for families with a child with a disability.
The payment is provided until the child reaches the age of 3, provided that the child is officially employed full-time.
“Schoolchild’s Package”: assistance for first-graders
For the first time, the law introduces the Schoolchildren’s Package program – a one-time UAH 5,000 allowance for school supplies and clothing for children entering the first grade.
Applications for children of the 2026/27 school year will be accepted in the summer of 2026.
Applications should be submitted through Diia or the Pension Fund.
The targeted use of funds will be controlled by the National Social Service.
“Baby package”: the choice is up to the parents
As before, families receive a “Baby Package” at the birth of a child. In 2026, parents can choose between:
- a natural package;
- or cash compensation in the amount of 3 subsistence minimums for children under 6 years of age – UAH 8,451.
