Critical infrastructure facilities that are not cut off from electricity will be divided into seasons

The government plans to complete the update of the list of critical infrastructure facilities that are guaranteed uninterrupted power supply by 1 July 2024. The head of the State Energy Supervision Inspectorate, Ruslan Slobodian, said this on Suspilne TV, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the official, work is currently underway in each region to analyse the electricity supply conditions of hundreds of consumers to identify priority facilities. This process is quite painstaking, but it is necessary to strike a balance between protecting critical infrastructure and preventing excessive burden on other consumers.
Slobodian said that dozens and sometimes hundreds of non-critical consumers have already been excluded from the existing list. It is planned to divide the list into summer and winter, as a number of facilities, such as heating facilities, are key only in the cold season.
Where it is not possible to connect a facility to different power lines, the possibility of manual switching is being considered in the case of outage schedules, as was practiced in the winter of 2022-2023. However, this option will require additional efforts from distribution system operators due to insufficient grid automation.
Slobodyan reminded that Russian shelling had caused serious damage to the shunting generation facilities, which led to a shortage of electricity and the need for stabilisation outages. Scheduled repairs of nuclear power units and the development of decentralised generation to cover the shortfall are underway.
The electricity supply situation is expected to ease in August after repairs at NPPs are completed and the number of priority consumers is reduced. The next six weeks are expected to be challenging in this regard.
DTEK announced the number of houses in Kyiv where the electricity supply is not cut off.
