In addition to electricity, Ukrainians are urged to save gas: shelling halts gas production

Ukrainians were urged to conserve gas after a new wave of Russian shelling of energy infrastructure. Due to the massive attacks, a number of gas production facilities have been shut down, and domestic production has significantly decreased. This was reported by the press service of the Naftogaz company, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“I appeal to everyone to be economical with gas consumption whenever possible. Every saved cubic meter matters today. We have the strength to cope with this. Russia attacks gas infrastructure for the sixth time since the beginning of October
On the night of October 16, Russian troops once again carried out a massive combined attack on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure. The enemy fired dozens of missiles, including ballistic missiles, and hundreds of “Shahed” drones.
Only civilian facilities that supply Ukrainians with gas and heat were hit.
Unfortunately, there are casualties. Four of our colleagues are currently being helped. There are hits and destruction in several regions at once. A number of critical facilities have been shut down. This is the sixth massive attack on gas infrastructure since the beginning of October. Such attacks directly affect the company’s own gas production, which it partially compensates for with imports.
Attack on DTEK Oil&Gas
The same night, Russian drones and missiles attacked DTEK Oil&Gas facilities in Poltava region. As a result of the shelling, the work of the enterprises was temporarily suspended, the company’s press service reported .
“At night, the enemy once again attacked the energy infrastructure of DTEK Oil&Gas with drones and missiles. As a result of the attack, the operation of gas production facilities in Poltava region was suspended,” the statement said.
Systematic shelling and losses
The day before, Naftogaz reported that in the past week alone, Russians had massively attacked Ukraine’s gas infrastructure three times – in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
According to Bloomberg, Ukraine has lost up to 60% of its own gas production as a result of recent Russian shelling.
