Heating season 2024 in Ukraine: when will it start in each region

The heating season will not start on the traditional date of 15 October in all regions of Ukraine. The decision to start heating is made based on the average daily temperature and the state of the energy sector, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing a post on the Telegram channel of Oleh Popenko, founder of the Union of Consumers of Public Utilities.
Kyiv
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the heating season will start on 14 October for hospitals, schools, kindergartens and other social institutions in the city. The heating will be switched on by individual applications.
Lviv
The city does not plan to start the heating season yet.
“The main criterion is the average daily air temperature. If it’s not too cold outside, why start the heating season?” – said Oleksandr Odynets, director of Lvivteploenergo.
Kharkiv
The mayor of the city, Oleg Sinegubov, said that the start of the heating season will depend on weather conditions and the defence capability of the Kharkiv region. This is because the decision to start the heating season will be coordinated by officials at all levels, including the relevant ministries, the President’s Office, and in consultation and joint approval with the military.
Zhytomyr
The heating season is scheduled to start in the region on 1 November. In the city itself, the heat will be turned on in the homes of the citizens on 16 October.
Chernihiv
The city is preparing to start connecting district heating from 15 October.
Lutsk
The city will take into account the weather conditions – it will be warm when the average daily temperature reaches 8 degrees for three days.
Dnipro
The city of Dnipro will also take into account the weather conditions, but the exact date is not yet known.
Zaporizhzhia
The city has prepared 57 boiler houses and heating stations for the heating season, and there are powerful generators in case of power outages. However, the exact start date has not yet been announced.
Cherkasy
on 15 October, a decision will be made to start the heating season in schools, kindergartens and healthcare facilities. The heat will be supplied to homes when the average daily temperature reaches 8⁰C, the mayor said.
Chernivtsi
In Chernivtsi, heat has been supplied to schools and kindergartens since 8 October.
Ivano-Frankivsk
The heating season in the city will begin when the average daily temperature remains at 8⁰C or less for three days.
Zakarpattia
The Mukachevo community plans to start the heating season on 21 October. There are no reports from other hromadas yet.
Rivne
The city will also monitor weather conditions. However, in Varash, a satellite town of the nuclear power plant, the heating season started on 3 October.
Khmelnytskyi
The city also focuses on temperature conditions.
“Of course, we would not like to start the heating season next week. This is due to the fact that we are determined to save resources and gas,” said Vasyl Novachok, Deputy Mayor of Khmelnytsky.
Vinnytsia
The city is ready for the start of the heating season when the average daily temperature stays at 8⁰C or less for three days.
Mykolaiv and Kherson
The cities also focus on the temperature regime.
It should be noted that there is no official information on the start of the heating season in Poltava, Odesa, Sumy, and Ternopil.
