Education without borders: MES approves programs for children from temporarily occupied territories

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has presented model curricula aimed at ensuring quality education for children who live or have lived in the temporarily occupied territories, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
These steps are aimed at integrating children into the national education system and supporting the educational process in the difficult conditions of war.
New model programs
- The development was carried out jointly with the Ukrainian Institute for Education Development.
- The programs are in line with the Model Educational Program for all levels of complete general secondary education.
- The goal is to ensure equal access to quality education for children from the temporarily occupied territories.
Programs for different grades
Primary school (grades 1-4):
- Ukrainian language and reading
- Integrated course “Learning the State Language”
- “I explore the world. My Ukraine”
- Languages and literature of an indigenous people or national minority
Secondary school (grades 5-9):
- Integrated course “Ukrainian language and literature”
- Integrated course “Learning the State Language”
- “History of Ukraine and civic education”
- “Geography of Ukraine”
- “Jurisprudence”
- Languages and literature of indigenous people or national minorities
High school (grades 10-11):
- Integrated course “Ukrainian language and literature”
- “History of Ukraine”
- “Geography of Ukraine
- Integrated course “Civic education, basics of civil defense”
- Languages and literature of indigenous people or national minorities
All programs are available for free download on the MES website.
Admission to universities and integration
- According to the latest data, 4.8 thousand applicants from the temporarily occupied territories and areas of active hostilities entered Ukrainian universities.
- This demonstrates the active integration of children into the national education system even in difficult conditions and during the war.
We remind you that the approval of model programs is part of Ukraine’s comprehensive strategy to preserve the educational process in conflict zones, support children and preserve national identity. At the same time, these programs create the basis for the long-term integration of students into the standard education system, increasing their chances for a successful academic and professional career.
