According to the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, laboratory tests have confirmed salmonellosis in 45 visitors to the restaurant where the outbreak occurred. This was reported by the head of the center, Natalia Ivanchenko-Tymko, on Facebook, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to preliminary information, all the patients ate Singapore cheesecake, which included raw eggs.

In total, according to Ivanchenko-Tymko, 76 people were affected, including 10 children. Almost half of them were found to be infected with Salmonella enteritidis.

“Eating foods that contain raw eggs always increases the risk of acute intestinal infections, including salmonellosis,” Ivanchenko-Tymko warned.

Salmonellosis is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium of the genus Salmonella. The infection is transmitted mainly through food of animal origin – raw meat, eggs, unpasteurized milk. The incubation period usually lasts from 6 hours to 3 days. The incidence is seasonal, with a peak in the summer and autumn. This is due to the active consumption of perishable foods and the growing number of picnics, which are often accompanied by violations of sanitary standards. The incubation period for salmonellosis usually ranges from 6 hours to 3 days, but can be extended to 7 days with a low infectious dose.

As a reminder, restaurateur and businessman Mykhailo Katsurin reported a mass poisoning in his new restaurant in Lviv. Katsurin himself was also admitted to the infectious diseases department with signs of food poisoning.
