Beijing’s Parade and the US Political Signal: Trump’s Reaction to the Alliance of China, Russia and the DPRK

US President Donald Trump has reacted sharply to the parade in Beijing, which was attended by the leaders of China, Russia, and North Korea. In his post on Truth Social, Trump sarcastically wished Chinese President Xi Jinping a good celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan.

At the parade, China unveiled a number of new military equipment, including a nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile, a hypersonic missile, laser weapons and robotic dogs, the BBC reports.

State news agency Xinhua reports that China has demonstrated its land, sea and air strategic forces as a nuclear triad for the first time.

The triad included the JingLei-1 long-range airborne missile, the JuLang-3 submarine-launched intercontinental missile, the DongFeng-61 ground-based intercontinental missile, and the DongFeng-31 new type of ground-based intercontinental missile.

At the beginning of the event, Xi Jinping gave a short five-minute speech.

BBC journalists drew attention to his behavior with Putin and Kim Jong-un: the Chinese leader greeted the guests, after which all three went to watch the parade together.

Experts see this as a signal to the United States: China, Russia and North Korea are demonstrating their alliance.

Trump dedicated a post to the parade on Truth Social, in which he sent “congratulations” to Kim and Putin, accusing them of colluding with China.

He also asked if Xi would mention the American assistance to China during World War II, which the United States provided to fight an “unfriendly foreign invader.”

“Have a wonderful holiday to President Xi and all the people of China. Give my best to Putin and Kim Jong-un as you plot against the United States of America,” Trump wrote.

As a reminder, at a press conference on Tuesday, Trump, commenting on Putin’s participation in a military parade in China with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said he did not consider it a threat to the United States.

“No. China needs us more than we need them,” the US president said.
