Bake Easter cake at home or buy ready-made: how prices for baking products have risen

Easter is almost upon us, and many Ukrainians are wondering how the prices of the main ingredients for making traditional Easter cake have changed. Almost all food products have become more expensive than in March last year, with the exception of salt and dried fruit. This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
How prices for the main ingredients of Easter cake have changed over the year
- eggs went up by 44.7%;
- sunflower oil went up by 35.4%;
- wheat flour went up by 32.5%;
- butter went up by 31.9%;
- milk went up by 19.5%;
- sugar went up by 7.2%;
- salt fell by 6.2%;
- dried fruits fell by 0.5%.

Every year, the prices of products for the Easter basket increase, as does the cost of Easter cakes. This year, the capital’s confectioneries offer a variety of Easter bread options: traditional Easter cakes, cheese Easter cupcakes, as well as Italian panettone and colombo. Among the most popular holiday baked goods this year are Easter cakes with various cream fillings: pistachio, chocolate, strawberry and even Dubai chocolate-flavored fillings, where in addition to pistachio paste, toasted kataifi dough is also used, which adds a characteristic crunch to the filling.
