The United States is providing Ukraine with a $2.4 billion aid package through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This was reported by the Pentagon press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

It is noted that the package will provide Ukraine with additional air defence, drones and air-to-ground munitions, as well as strengthen Ukraine’s defence industrial base and support its maintenance and support needs.

Weapons will be purchased from industry rather than provided from US stockpiles.

The new package includes:

  • ammunition and support for Ukraine’s air defence systems;
  • air-to-ground munitions;
  • drones and components to support Ukrainian drone production;
  • equipment to combat drones;
  • unmanned surface vessels;
  • secure communications equipment;
  • equipment and materiel to support Ukrainian ammunition production;
  • spare parts, maintenance and support, and other ancillary equipment.

This is the 21st package under the USAI initiative for Ukraine.

“The United States will continue to work with nearly 50 allies and partners in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group and related coalitions to provide the support Ukraine needs to win the war,” the Pentagon assured.

In addition to the package , US President Joe Biden issued an executive order to allocate $5.55 billion to help Ukraine from US stockpiles.
