The Pentagon has received an anonymous donation of $130 million to pay compensation to employees during the partial shutdown of the US federal government.
This was reported by Bloomberg, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“On October 23, the military department received an anonymous donation of $130 million,” said Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s assistant to the head of public affairs.
The aide clarified that the donation was made on the condition that it be used to offset the cost of salaries and benefits for the military.
According to Bloomberg, this amount will cover only a small part of the costs for 1.3 million military personnel. In September, the Pentagon spent about $9.8 billion on employee salaries.
The anonymous sponsor of the Pentagon, who donated $130 million for military salaries, was the “reclusive billionaire” Timothy Mellon. This was reported by
The New York Times.
