Oles Kudryk, head of the Borshchahivka village council, commented on the situation with roads after bad weather in a comment to Komersant.

According to the official, the roads within the village have been cleared, but the situation with travel in the direction of Kyiv remains difficult due to icy conditions and traffic congestion.

“The roads have been cleared and are in good condition, but there is ice. As a result, all of our streets, both main and secondary roads, are currently blocked,” Kudryk said.

According to him, municipal and contractor equipment was brought in to deal with the aftermath of the bad weather.

“We have a company and two pieces of equipment from municipal and contractor organizations, plus three machines that spread sand mixture. And not only sand mixture—we also spray water. But when the temperature is below -6, they don’t work well,” he explained.

At the same time, the community leader acknowledged that the main problem was leaving the village.

“We can get into the village easily, but leaving the village is really difficult,” he added.

Assessing the condition of the roads as a driver, Oles Kudryk noted:

“If I’m driving from Kyiv to the village, I would rate it as a 3, but if I’m driving to Kyiv, I would rate it as an 8 or 9.”

It should be noted that on February 16, Kyiv and its suburbs experienced a traffic collapse. Traffic jams blocked the main highways and exits from the capital, and a trip that usually takes about 30 minutes stretched to 3–4 hours.
