Mobilisation reset: commissions at the TCC may cancel previously granted deferrals

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has amended the procedure for granting deferrals from military service during mobilisation by its resolutions No. 558 and No. 560 of 16 May 2024, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

From now on, commissions established at territorial recruitment and social support centres (TSCs) will be able to cancel previously made decisions to grant deferment in case a person liable for military service loses the grounds for receiving it. The applicant will be notified of the cancellation of the deferment in writing the next day.

The procedure for considering applications for deferment has also changed. Persons liable for military service will submit applications with attached documents to commissions at district military commissariats. They will include representatives of various structural units of local authorities.

The commissions will verify the legality of the grounds for postponement using data from state registers and sending inquiries to various state bodies.

The commissions must consider the received applications and documents confirming the right to deferment within 7 days from the date of their receipt, but no later than the next day from the date of receipt of information on requests to public authorities.

Thus, thanks to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolutions, deferrals from mobilisation are under closer scrutiny, as they can be cancelled if circumstances change.
