Following the Russian attack: widespread power outages in two regions of Ukraine
6 April 10:14
Russian troops attacked energy infrastructure in the Chernihiv region overnight. As a result of the strike, hundreds of thousands of customers in two regions were left without power.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the “Chernihivoblenergo” Telegram channel.
“An important energy facility in the Chernihiv district was damaged as a result of the enemy attack. Over 280,000 customers in the Chernihiv and Koryukivka districts are without power,” Chernihivoblenergo stated.
Power company workers will begin emergency repair work as soon as the security situation allows.
Situation in Slavutych
In particular, due to enemy shelling, residents in Slavutych, Kyiv Oblast, were also left without power.
According to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, the enemy struck the energy infrastructure again this morning. As a result of the attack, Slavutych was temporarily left without power—affecting about 21,000 people.
He also noted that all critical infrastructure has already been switched to backup power. The city has water, and social services are operating on generators. Communications and the internet remain stable.
“Resilience centers are open—they are ready to help anyone who needs it. We support one another. And we will stand firm,” Kalashnik added.
As a reminder, on the night of April 6, Russia again launched a massive attack on Odesa using strike drones. As of this morning, three people are known to have been killed, including a child, and 10 others were injured.
