Six months – almost 69 thousand marriages: Ministry of Justice releases statistics for January-June 2025

In the first half of 2025, almost 69 thousand marriages were registered in Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Ukrainians were most active in getting married in the capital – more than 14 thousand couples got married in Kyiv. The top five regions also include:
- Dnipropetrovs’k region – 5795 marriages;
- Lviv region – 4735;
- Kyiv region – 4163;
- Odesa region – 4099.
How the number of marriages has changed in recent years:

For comparison, in 2022, despite the full-scale war, almost 200,000 marriages were registered. In the following years, the figure gradually declined, apparently due to demographic losses, migration, uncertainty about the future, and difficult socioeconomic conditions.
Despite these factors, marriage activity in the first half of 2025 remains relatively stable, and by the end of the year it may reach about 140 thousand marriages.
The Ministry of Justice reminds that thanks to the Marry in a Day service, Ukrainians can register a marriage quickly, conveniently and without unnecessary formalities – this option is available in dozens of locations across the country, even during martial law.
