Poland has decided to close the last Russian Consulate General in Gdansk, which operates in the country. This was announced by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, whose speech was broadcast by the Polish news channel TVP Info, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“I have decided to revoke the work permit for the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Gdansk,” the Foreign Minister said in the Sejm (lower house of the Polish parliament).

on June 27, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation, which had been operating in Krakow for 80 years, ceased to operate. This left Russia with the only consulate general operating in Poland, located in Gdansk. However, now it will be closed as well. Citizens will still be able to apply to the consular section of the Russian embassy in Warsaw.

The Kremlin reacted to the incident. The spokesman for the Russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov, said that the information about the closure of the Russian consulate in Gdansk, Poland, shows the degradation of Poland and the lack of common sense.

“Relations with Poland have completely degraded. We should ask Warsaw about the closure of the consulate, but this decision is not based on common sense,” Peskov said.

In July, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the closure of the Polish Consulate General in Kaliningrad.
